Curious Gallery is primarily run by Portland-area artist and author Lupa, with the help of two people very near and dear to her–and an awesome group of volunteers! There’s a lot of work involved in preparing for and promoting the event, setting it up, making it happen, and tearing down afterward. As a volunteer, you’ll be helping ease a bit of that burden!
We have TWO volunteer meetings scheduled. If you can make it to one of these, we’d love to meet you! If not, please email us at curiousgallerypdx@gmail.com to let us know you still want to volunteer but can’t get to the meetings.

Here are some of the things volunteers have helped with in the past:
–Putting up posters and promotional materials in Portland and beyond
–Setting up gridwall, tables and other infrastructure before the event begins, and tearing it down afterwards
–Attending to the registration booth, helping attendees get registered and answering questions
–Monitoring the art show and answering questions about the art
–Checking on vendors and relieving them briefly if they need a break for bathrooms, food, etc.
–Checking that all attendees have badges
As a thank you, we offer free admission in exchange for volunteer time. Four hours of volunteering gets you one day admission, eight hours gets you the full two-day weekend. You don’t have to just volunteer during the event, though–there’s plenty of postering to be done in the weeks leading up to Curious Gallery, and we always need help with setup the Friday before the event, and teardown Sunday night.
We try to arrange the schedule to be sure you get to go to all the programming that interests you. And we also do our best to accommodate any limitations you may have, to include health considerations and disabilities, scheduling conflicts, and anything else that may come up. If you have any particular event-related strengths, or things you really don’t want to do, make sure you mention it in our volunteer application.
